To pilot the Deep Springs approach to the worldwide unsafe water crisis, we selected Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere and close neighbor to the United States.
Haiti has been called “the black hole of development” because so many programs have failed to have a long-term and sustainable impact in spite of the efforts of governments and thousands of well-meaning charities.
So why such a hard place?....
We accepted the challenge of Haiti because we are confident in our approach. It’s really the perfect country to start because we know that “if it will work in Haiti….it will work anywhere”….our success in this difficult island nation will propel the program into the rest of the developing world.
